    Location: Loring Heights in Minneapolis

Movement Minneapolis member since: May 2016

    What’s your athletic/fitness background?
I played soccer and tennis all through school with occasional bouts of lifting at the YMCA.

What brought you to the Movement? Do you remember your first workout and what you thought of it?
I was at Vinna Fitness downtown Minneapolis for a few months until they closed that location. Movement is a 10-minute walk from my apartment and my friend Kareem always had good things to say about it. I came in for an intro with JVB and was hooked!

What’s been the biggest change for you since joining the Movement?
I recently had to get rid of my skinny jeans because my quads have become massive!

What’s been your favorite Movement moment so far?
All the laughter! Man, what a fun group of people!

Tell us about your most memorable PR.
Being able to deadlift my body weight at 155 the last Max Week was pretty awesome.

Do you have a favorite exercise/workout/training style? If so, what is it?
Kettlebells for sure. I’m definitely a novice when it comes to all the things you can do with them but I love the fluidity and speed you can get with them.

How about your least favorite exercise/workout?
Hamstring curls! What sweet torture is this?!

Do you prefer training solo or with a partner/team/class?
I’m all about training solo yet I thoroughly enjoy doing that in a class setting. I learn a ton by watching others and it’s super fun socializing with everyone at the gym especially the evening classes.

When did you know you were hooked?
The first programming shift: I’ve done other group type classes before but they became repetitive after awhile. I love how the Movement mixes up programming every month and a half or so for maximum gainz.

What does being “strong” mean to you?
What’s that quote on the wall? Develop the strength to do bold things not the strength to suffer. Love that.

How do you spend your days when you’re not at the gym?
Right now I’m in the process of starting an exciting new role at MSP Magazine’s MSP-C as digital content analyst. Before that, I spent the last four years doing all things digital media for 830 WCCO Radio, BUZ’N @ 102.9 and 104.1 JACK FM including photography, video editing, web development and social media. Definitely dream jobs for sure! In my free time I play a lot of guitar and piano, ride bicycles, record my own music, make videos and occasionally record and produce rappers and full bands at the TheHideawayMPLS.com in Northeast Minneapolis. I’m also an avid reader: recently I finished David Copperfield and started rereading Graham Hancock’s Magicians of the Gods.

What do you think people would be surprised to know about you?

I secretly love trashy pop music. Beyoncé, Kesha, Miley…all that. Rihanna’s ‘Work’ is my jam forsure. Love it!

    What’s your favorite post-workout meal?
I eat an entire bag of Jackson’s Honest coconut oil sweet potato chips after I get home from class 😀

What are you training for/what’s your next training goal?
2017 I want to be able to kick up into a handstand at the wall. I also want to get into a wheel pose.

How can people find/connect with you?
Follow me on Instagram: @adamgreenwald Twitter: @GWLD, add me on FB if we’re not friends already: Facebook.com/adam.greenwald and of course let’s connect on LinkedIn Linkedin.com/in/adamgreenwald/. AdamGreenwald.com has some fun stuff as well!

Do you have any advice for people starting out?
Just keep at it and show up. Even if you aren’t doing the movements perfectly just the act of going through the motions a few times a week will be enough practice for you to get good at things. Also, the pain and soreness goes away after a while your body gets used to the positive input you give it.

Anything else you’d like to share?
Born and raised in Marshfield, WI. Go Packers! Got my BBA in Marketing from UW-Milwaukee and my BS in Music Production from McNally Smith College of Music in St. Paul. I also might be the first person ever to get a minor in hip-hop studies…need to confirm with Jay Z and Snoop Dogg on that first tho 😀 Always looking to collaborate on new music/video/photo/web projects hit me up!
